About Horton Aviation

We believe that quality flight training is the result of an experienced, professional flight instructor dedicated to the task of providing an organized training program to a motivated client. That belief has shaped the way we operate; focusing on personalized training dedicated to client success. We measure success by our ability to produce safe, proficient, knowledgeable pilots in an efficient manner.

Our aircraft are a joy to fly. Chosen for their unmatched safety record, our advanced Diamond aircraft provide a platform which will produce a pilot with a strong background transferable to any of today’s modern aircraft.

Horton Aviation is based at ACI Jet at John Wayne Airport (KSNA). The modern, spacious FBO provides an excellent location for pre and post-flight briefs and ground school.

Scott Horton, ATP, CFI, CFII, MEI

After more than 10 years as a recreational pilot and aircraft owner, Scott decided to spend more time in an airplane and less behind a desk working as an aviation attorney & CPA specializing in aircraft transactions. That transition included flying as an instructor, then a stint at SkyWest Airlines flying a CRJ before starting his own flight school.

Scott has flown Diamond aircraft since earning an instrument rating in a DA40 in 2008. As an owner of several DA40 aircraft and with more than 2000 hours in DA40’s and 42’s, starting a flight school with Diamond aircraft was a natural choice.

Scott works with students on all certificates and ratings in the DA40 and DA42.
